FAQs
How do I schedule a free phone consult?
Click here to access my availability and reserve your consultation time. This is an opportunity for you to share briefly about what is bringing you to therapy and what you're looking to get out of therapy. I will share a bit about my practice and answer any questions you may have.
Will you try to influence my beliefs? Are you for or against Christianity?
As your therapist, I will not make any attempts to influence what you believe. I have found a great deal of value in the Christian belief system and my own spirituality, but I have also experienced hurt, doubt, and had many questions in my own journey. I have seen first hand what is or is not helpful. I recognize that some clients seeing therapy may choose to stay in their belief system, while others may choose to walk away. No matter the outcome, my role is to sit with you in support in our time together.
Do you work with clients from different faith backgrounds?
Absolutely! I come with a background in Mennonite and Evangelical religious experience and can identify with many issues, terms and experiences one may have had within this group. However, many other belief systems overlap with the experience of Evangelicalism or Fundamentalism due to the core issues of high control religion. No matter what belief system or background you come from, I'd love to connect to see if we could be a good fit working together.
Where do I need to live to be able to see you?
I am fully licensed in Texas and Colorado, and licensed only as a Telehealth clinician in Florida. If you live in Texas, Colorado or Florida, please reach out! If you live outside of these states, I recommend exploring the directory of religious trauma therapists at the Reclamation Collective.
What will the first session be like?
In your first session, we will dive deeper into what is bringing you to therapy, relevant history and learn more about what you hope to gain out of therapy. We will discuss next steps and appropriate forms of treatment in therapy. You can often expect a small therapy assignment at the end of each session to help you continue the work outside of session.
How long are sessions?
Initial intake session will last 60 minutes. All follow-up sessions will last approximately 50 minutes and sessions are scheduled on the hour. This buffer gives us time to wrap up and for me to complete any necessary documentation.
Do you accept insurance and what are private pay rates?
Yes! I am currently in-network with most major insurance companies for those in Texas and Colorado.
I am out-of-network for those wishing to use their insurance benefits in Florida.
I offer self-pay for those who are out-of-network or in Florida, as this allows for more flexibility with scheduling and length of session. This also avoids the need for a clinical diagnosis and gives you more freedom in how you schedule your sessions.
If I do not accept your insurance and/or you choose self-pay, I encourage you to submit an out-of-network claim if you have out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill upon request to assist you in this process.
What are your self-pay rates?
Individual Sessions - Initial session fee is $180, due to the session being 60 minutes long. The standard follow-up is $170 per session for a 53 minute session.
Couples Sessions - Initial session fee is $190, due to the session being 60 minutes long. The standard follow-up rate is $180 for a 53 minute session.
Family Sessions - Initial session fee is $190, due to the session being 60 minutes long. The standard follow-up rate is $180 for a 53 minute session.
If you are a self-pay client, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider if you have out-of-network benefits.
Do you help navigate submitting out-of-network claims?
I've partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.
Mentaya is perfect if you:
• Have out of network benefits
• Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
• Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
• Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!
Here's how it works:
1. Sign up for Mentaya here
2. I will enter your sessions into the platform.
3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
4. You get reimbursed by insurance!
Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.
It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a document that shows a list of services provided to you by a healthcare provider if they are out-of-network with your insurance carrier. Per your request, a superbill can be provided to you to present to your insurance company for reimbursement per their policy. You can request to be reimbursed from your insurance company at a part of your costs. It is important that you speak to your insurance company prior to submitting this to verify you have out-of-network benefits.
What if I am running late to our session?
Policy is that I will wait 15 minutes for your arrival into our session and will provide you with a reminder phone call after 5 minutes have passed. If 15 minutes have passed, after your scheduled appointment time, you will be charged the no-show fee of the full session price.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that you give 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment if you need to cancel. A late cancellation fee of $95.00 will be charged if the cancellation is done less than 24 hours prior to your appointment as it is unlikely that I will be able to fill that slot on short notice.
What are your hours?
I see clients between the hours of 9:30-4:30 during weekdays.
What type of device do I need to access our remote Telehealth session?
To access your remote Telehealth therapy session, you will need a strong wifi connection or signal while connecting from a device such as a tablet, phone, or computer. We will be using HIPPA compliant software to conduct video sessions.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
